The Royal Hospital for Sick Children Aberdeen

A renal nurse post was created by Kidney Kids Scotland. This nurse visits the children in their home and school instead of them making the long and arduous journey to and from the hospital. This post proved to be so successful that after three years the NHS took over the funding. The Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Aberdeen have received very much needed Bed and Dialysis Scales. This electronic bed weigher allows bedridden patients to be weighed simply, carefully and accurately and is an indispensable part of dialysis and intensive care. In addition Kidney Kids Scotland have for the past three years funded a dietician to spend dedicated time with children with renal/urology problems. This dietician’s services have proved to be invaluable to hospital and patients alike and Kidney Kids are extremely pleased that this service will now be funded by the NHS.
