Franklyn's Story

"Franklyn’s story from mum Jenna"🤍

We were told there was something wrong with one of Franklyn’s kidneys at my 20 week scan. Unfortunately when he was born, an ultrasound showed both kidneys were affected. After scans and more tests were were told he had grade 5 hydronephrosis and vesicoureteral reflux grade 5. Surgery would be required. This was was sped up when he got a UTI that turned into Sepsis in March 2020. He was very sick, and we then spent 2 weeks in the children's renal ward. He had his first surgery at 11 weeks old. It was the most worrying time in our lives, but the staff in renal ward 3C made us feel so safe and looked after our boy incredibly. We cannot speak highly enough about them. "

Franklyn continues to be monitored with his chronic kidney disease, and will one day require a transplant. He actually loves going to the -‘nhs’ as he calls it - clinic 😅 to see his consultants, and the nurses always make such a fuss of him. To the point he now trusts them to take blood with no tears or fear which just makes us so proud 🥲
